GO, GO, fire truck!!
yesterday was quite a drama-mama day. my dad brought us for dimsum in the afternoon and then we drove over to Centro, one of the uptown malls in town which was newly opened. it has been my top hangout place in my quest of escaping from the cluthes of boredom in this little island. not that i have many choices though, given circumstantial restrictions like the fact that i can't drive myself anywhere. gave them plenty of business over the past few days too, been buying over a hundred dollars worth of books at the bookstore. but i digress. so we popped by after lunch as usual, and my sis and i shopped around for a while while my bro and my dad were elsewhere chilling. there was a small fire at that shopping mall yesterday while we were in it. it was in the local papers today, apparently the people thought that it was another terrorist attack, hence all the commotion and stampede. one of the electric circuit box had exploded and given out lots of smoke. we were just about getting ready to leave and were paying for something at the bookstore cashier when suddenly there was a blackout. we thought it was a no biggie til somewhere out there somebody shouted that there was a fire. so the next thing i knew, the four of us were running to the carpark like there's no tomorrow, with me trailing behind of course, because of my heels. my dad was rushing like a mad dog because he wanted to be one of the first to leave so that we wouldn't be caught in the massive jam at the carpark once people started evacuating. while we were in the car making our way out, people were already running out of the place like rats and we heard one of the restaurants' cook who was evacuating say "damn, i was cooking!" haha. we saw a firetruck speeding in the direction of the mall too. according to the papers today, the authorities were so fearful that it was another terrorist bombing that they sent four fire trucks to the location. thank God no one was injured. God is good. :) these type of situations really set me thinking. many of us live lives so frivolously and we take tomorrow for granted. what if there is no tomorrow? what if yesterday was really a terrorist attack? oh goodness.. so turn to someone you know and tell them you love them. :) ![]() |
