mood bored out of my wits
listening to Someone like me by Atomic Kitten

i'm so bored i just can't shut up. where are fellow human beings when we need them?
Geez... first paper not even over and i'm already in a holiday mood. madness.
retiring to slumberland at this ridiculously early hours would certainly do my conscience no justice. practicing chemistry wont ease my guilt too. since literature is on the menu come daybreak.

argh... mad mad mad mad...

mood reticent
listening to Jainy by Five for Fighting

Tomorrow has finally come. my long-awaited first paper, making its grand entrance after making me sit around in unbearable impatience while everyone else seems to be way nearing the end of theirs. and WHY oh why, may you ask, am i behaving in the manner of one who is in possession of all the free time in the whole wide world? bloggin so much with relentless ramblings, nonsensical and petty updates, useless redundant information as though people are interested in what time i sleep. All this anomaly can only translate to one thing. i'm just bored.

Literature paper tmr.. hmm.. how to study for literature?
And oh, my essay got lost somewhere in the tutor's hands i believe. wasn't able to find it in the rack from where i was supposed to collect it. Still waiting for my tutor's reply to my urgent mail this morning. *taps fingers impatiently*

Things are just going so slow.. the lackadaisical feel of this portion of my life stageplay before the next curtain call is making me fidgety. i'm not expecting anything dramatic like having an elephant drop on my desk or superman flying past my window while i'm mugging, i'm not even complaining that my life lacks the oomph and gliteratti of a typical sarong party girl, which by the way is not at all me.
i just.. just.. wanna go somewhere.. do new things, meet new faces, and not merely confined to the comfort of the comings and goings of people and things in my mondays, tuesdays, and wednesdays that i'm all too familiar with.

maybe i should go hiking. or take up mountain-biking. or diving. or something.
of course being the clumsy and accident-prone clutz that i am, i ought to buy an insurance first.

argh, can't wait to go back to bali.

haven't seen rudy for two days! it just struck me how often we actually see each other. not just almost everyday in school, but weekends for church too. how about those couples who study at different institutions, or boyfriends who are serving NS, or other-halves who are commited to something overseas. or even szemun, whose boyfriend is in poly, while she's having to juggle this and that, being an architecture student who's known to have a notoriously hectic schedule.
so i should be counting my blessings with my fingers and toes.
Afterall God blesses each one with his/her own unique set of loving families, chummy buddies, interests, lifestyles, and whatnot. And a relationship, amongst other things, is about respecting all those.

i'm still craving for Doritos. hurmpf.

shall go get waffle now! die.. so gonna get obese.

mood super duper wooper lazy
listening to Don't know why by Norah Jones

i so cannot get my lazy bum down to studying as proper as i should. you're all most welcome to knock on Sheares Hall D506 to give me one tight wake-up smack. or tie me up onto my chairs and prop a book within my view. if you're a male and are strong (so gabe is naturally out), do haul my bed out as well. considering i just fell asleep on it a while ago.

what is the matter with me?!

what everyone needs, is a break.

and the time has again come. i cannot wait to go back to Bali... other than the fact that i haven't seen my family for a year and i would like to believe that my weetle sibs miss me. thick skin i know. hey stop throwing veg at me!

i'm seriously in no mood to write/produce/verbal vomit anything. and to think i've got literature paper on thursday. panic panic. 2 essays in 2 hours...

will have to make do with very mundane, short (and sweet. not.) , abrupt, posts.

ancient pictures are up! colours aren't v good cos i took them directly from already-printed yonks-ago photos. these were taken when i was in bali last last december.. so now you know how long i've been away from home. til then, it's EXAM TIME. how anti-climax.

mood: nostalgic

5.40am.. can't sleep.. and in 2 and half hours i've gotta be at the lobby so that mark can fetch me to church.. oh my body, would you just be good to me at least til my papers are finito.
was tossing and turning in bed for 20 minutes before i gave up sleeping altogether.

turning on my laptop seemed to be the most natural thing to do (other than hitting the books. urgh) and a few songs just came into mind. was listening to

Angel eyes by Jim Brickman
The Valley Song by Jars of Clay
Overjoyed by Jars of Clay

and i just teared.

i had forgotten what it felt like.

mood: dizzy

2.20am in the morning. i crawled out of my tiny nest to wash my hand in the kitchen after cutting the roots of my water hyacinth which was evidently overwhelming my guppies' breathing space.

distractions, distractions.

saw zy who just came out of the lift and the first thing he said when he saw me was, "eh you lost weight ah?". That coming from someone whose uttered words to me normally hardly constitute a conversation, much less a comment on anything.

anyway so far he's the eighth to tell me that. strange.. how come i dont feel it? and when i casually mentioned this rather becoming trend to rudy a while back, his response was,

"huh? is it???"

mood lazy
listening to Give it to you by Jordan Knight
drinking invigorating green & herb tea

My faithful tea has been doing its job these few days. been sleeping at 6am for the past 2 days, waking up 2 hours later to zombie my way to the comm hall to collect my breakfast and plomped back to bed straight after, with immense gratitude at the person who invented pillows.

woke up again at around 12 noon to eat those breakfast for lunch. i say, ain't i thrifty, yes?

hickory dickory dock. the mouse ran up the clock.

now where did that come from?

anyways..

this is a sickening cycle. come exams, everyone is practically mugging their sanity off, looking depressed, having the "die liao die liao" mentality. i say i've had enough.
i badly want to pull up my CAP, i really do. and if you come telling me that you've fallen into the hole of depression and are inviting me to the pity party because you're short of that 0.1 to the dean's list, please. be a little more thoughtful.

i'm craving for waffles! rather than mulling over which chapter to study for tonight's mugging session, i'd rather do some serious contemplation on whether i want chocolate or strawberry on my waffles tonight.

dilemma, dilemma.

i hate exams grarghhhhh.....

that ugly thing is poking its head in a week. and like a normal student who obviously dreads exams, i do too. like duh. i'm not terrified or anything like that, just fidgety and can't wait for it to be o-v-e-r so that i can bring into existence my plans currently in hiatus.

i'm in no mood to blog.

just a quick update. during the time warp between the previous post and now, i have turned ... ahh.. this is hard.. i have turned... twenty.

and so i was forced to kiss my youth goodbye. not that i am now officially a senior citizen, it's just that there's this vast psychological difference between 19 and 20, resulting in me feeling awfully ancient. shite...
and having birthday fall during reading week is an absolute bummer. me and rudy had a tiny celebration in the form of dinner at Tonkichi, this yummy japanese restaurant at suntec. we ordered this set meal for three and stuffed ourselves silly eating heaps of japanese-sauce marinated cabbage, tempura, oysters, and other fried meat dipped in tartar sauce and ground sesame. beats hall food anytime, man.

like what rudy pointed out, i wasn't excited about my birthday at all. God know why, it felt strangely just like any other day, almost as if i wouldn't even remember if he doesn't remind me. rudy got me a crumpler laptop case and a small teddy bear that *gasp* sings happy birthday when i pressed the tip of its left arm. For a moment i thought it was some muppet voice until upon careful scrutiny i realised that it was HIS voice, distorted by all the bear's intestinal wool stuffing. God, it was hilarious! =D sounded much like ernie in sesame street!

and i wondered how come the laptop case was so heavy.
then to my horror and delight (more of the latter), inside was the biggest heap of Hershey's kisses i've ever seen in my entire life. enough to last me a few weeks i would say. enough to keep me joggin for a while too. my boyfriend knows me the best. :)

came back around 11pm and had the block D peeps sing me happy birthday over a cheesecake. as always, berry berry sneaky... haha. was honestly quite taken aback, cos to be frank i was never much part of the block. kinda touched. thanks guys.. :)

There was this person who was once so close to me. we were like chopstick sisters, hardly seen without each other, always there for one another. i used to tell her anything and everything. i cried with her when she was sad, we spent so much time together that i naively thought she would just keep sticking around. until now i still dont know what hit us, where went wrong, she just drifted. drifted. got attached. drifted some more. some more. and now too far to be found anymore. On my birthday i got her sms. it was rather pleasant, but altogether strange. like flipping open a musty book.

so i am a year older. birthday came and went. and it will still come and go next year. and the year after. until one day i'll probably realise that the cycle has come a full circle several times. people i have met... will you still know my name? will you still feel the same? or would it have simply been a passing phenomenon, as temporal many others who have since scurried along in this maze called life. you came. you're gone. went your way and everything is forgotten.

ah... life.

if you're feeling a pinch at one tiny corner of your heart now, i was probably thinking about you when i typed the above ;)

anyways! rudy bought me two shrimps to make my fishtank ecosystem more merry. so exciting so exciting! in less than a day they practically scrubbed everything clean. algae gone. leftover fish feed vanished. they're like vaccuum cleaners and i love them! they're so "me". can't stand to have scraps of junk lying around. haha. i am ecstatic over two shrimps. imbecile i know. but if rudy can live with my strange antics i suppose i am okay.

argh! back to books. okbye.

Follow Through
by Gavin DeGraw

Oh, this is the start of something good
Don't you agree?
I haven't felt like this in so many moons
You know what I mean?
And we can build through this destruction
As we are standing on our feet

So since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say
And I, all I really want is you
For you to stick around
I'll see you everyday
But you have to follow through
You have to follow through

These reeling emotions they just keep me alive
They keep me in tune
Oh, look what I‘m holding here in my fire
This is for you
Am I too obvious to preach it
You're so hypnotic on my heart
So since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say
And I, all I really want is you
For you to stick around
I'll see you everyday
But you have to follow through
You have to follow through

The words you say to me are unlike anything
That's ever been said
And what you do to me is unlike anything
That's ever been

Am I too obvious to preach it
You're so hypnotic on my heart
So since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say
And I, all I really want is you
For you to stick around
I'll see you everyday

Blank faces, lazy drawls, mechanical gestures. And when the lump gets larger and talking becomes such a chore, i just want to retreat into His familiar embrace. In Him i am made whole. =)

Cry
by City Harvest Church
Lost in You alone
is where i wanna be
to hear Your voice
Softly in my ear
You whisper words to me
that i am Yours
Can't live a day without Your presence
closer to You i wanna be
My soul cries out for more of You my Lord,
my portion and hope
I close my eyes, and feel You near
there's nobody else that can take Your place in my heart

mood: comtemplative
hooked on to: Daybreak by Lisa Ekdahl

I was absent-mindedly browsing through my flooded mailbox when i got reminded of a saved mail at the bottom of my inbox dated 24th March 2004.
It was a little after the release of my A level results and being the bouncy chirpy bird God's goodness had made be become at that time, my cellgroup leader asked me to write a testimony to submit. Eventhough in the end the church did away with the idea altogether, reading it again a while ago brought much heartfelt presence. It was my love story with God, of how He gave so much so that i could have what little dreams i wanted.
it went like this:

All along i've been a more or less average student who was never very serious in my studies. most of my teachers had always felt that i wasnt putting enough effort in my work.
My parents in indonesia have very high expectations of me and so do my relatives, with whom i'm staying in singapore. My relationship with my relatives has never been a smooth-sailing one, especially after i became a born-again christian and commited my life to Jesus. They hated it when i came home late past midnight from church conferences and seminars so many times in the month and they were convinced that i was wasting my time going to weekly cellgroup meetings and services right at the other end of singapore.

When exams were drawing nearer, i had a burning desire to do extraordinarily well for my exams. I did not want to disappoint my parents, who had such high hopes in their eldest child. I wanted to do well for the sake of my own future. But most importantly, i wanted to glorify God above everything else. There was a longing in my heart to show my relatives in singapore that being a christian isnt something time-wasting & degrading. I wanted them to see the glory of God through what i was going to accomplish.

I wanted it so badly that i always used to question what did God have in store for me. admittedly i was often blinded by my own fear. sometimes i felt that the accountability was too great, or it seemed like i was endlessly waiting for what i thought might not even come. to put it bluntly, i was just scared. I had such big dreams i was never sure i could reach.

I studied very hard for my prelims. However, most of my studying time was spent outside & my relatives were never quite convinced that i was working hard. They even told my parents that they think i wasnt going to make it to university, and i could feel cynicism oozing out of every single conversation i had with them. Their lack of faith made me feel so demoralized but i was determined that it was all going to work out well. Afterall God promised that everything is going to work together for good to those who love God, and that He hold my future in His loving hands, i thought.

His promises comforted me but i worried because i knew eventhough i trusted God, my faith was not enough. i felt condemned because i knew deep down i had doubts. It seemed so easy to tell myself to have faith. But as much as i wanted to believe that i was strong, sometimes i would still wonder, what if everything doesnt turn out well.. I felt so ashamed when i thought of what God would think of the faithless child i was.

So many times i tried doing things by my own power. When my prelims came, i thought i was really going crazy. I started falling sick more often than usual and so many times i would get mental blocks such that i wouldnt be able to recall anything i've tried so hard to memorise.

The day of my biology core paper, i woke up in the morning to find myself barely being able to make it out of my room. i nearly fainted trying to go to the toilet, i was so ill that needless to say, i didnt manage to sit for my paper that day. I was devastated. not because i thought my prelim grades would suffer, but because i felt myself losing strength to run after what i was yearning for the most. God's promises seemed so out of reach. In the end, i obtained a C,C,E for my prelims.

With the help of encouragements from my cell group leader and members, i managed to sit through my A level exams. At that time i was sleeping so little that they were shocked at how horrid i looked, dark rings and all.

Even after sitting for the exams, i didn't think i would do well. However, i eventually talked it out with God. In my own quiet times, i felt His comfort and peace settle upon me like never before. He showd me a verse, "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I shall be his God and he shall be My son." Rev 21:7.
He helped me to battle with this persistent fear of the upcoming release of results and eventually, i managed to tell God that it really didnt matter anymore. I apologised because i doubted Him and my faith was so little, and I told Him that i was going to accept whatever the outcome is with joy. I wanted Him to know that i love Him. I wanted Him to know how much i love the Blesser more than the blessings.

I shocked myself by not feeling the slightest tinge of anxiety even up til the day results were to be released. The day before, i remember telling a cellgrp member that i would be happy to death and more than grateful with an A,B,C. but i thought it could have been worse.
I turned up late on the day results were released, wanting to miss the principal's speech and the prize-giving ceremony. Ironically, i arrived just when prize giving was about to start & i even joked with a friend that i would never be able to go up to the stage, eventhough it used to be my dream.

I was shocked beyond belief and could hardly believe my ears when the principal called my name to announce that I obtained 'A's for the 3 subjects i took: maths, chemistry and biology, and an A2 for General Paper. I was one of the 39 students in my school who obtained 3 distinctions and above.
As i wobbled up the stage to collect my cert, i couldnt help but think of how good God has been. He remained faithful even when i was faithless.
My mum was over the moon. My relatives were impressed and slightly embarassed for all their negative predictions. and I was so stunned that i literally laughed and cried while holding my cert.

And yet, the greatest thing God has done in my life isnt the results itself. It was the fact that He helped me overcome my greatest fear. Of failure, and of accountability. As i took little steps to become the overcomer He wanted me to be, He showed me what it meant to inherit His promises. God showed me that having overcome, He gave me exceedingly and abundantly above what i could ever ask for. And the most important thing is He let me see that He never fails to turn my darkest moment into the most excellent opportunities to glorify His name, & that He simply loves to see us eventually emerging to be the champions that we're all meant to be.

I want to thank my cellgroup leader, Jolene, for having faith in me, and i also want to thank Pst Kong, for never failing to inspire me through his God anointed preaching & being a walking example of God's faithfulness. Thank you, city harvest church, for being the most fantastic place i could ever imagine myself to belong, and i want to thank God for His faithfulness & relationship, without which i wouldnt be here at all.

How time flies, it's been over a year. exams are here again, and Lord, i am scared. help me never to wipe off the traces of the encounters i once held so dear. Help me to know that You, Lord, grant perfect peace to those whose mind is stayed on You, who trusts in You.

Academics aside, looking back at what i had gone through in my younger years, as a christian, as a teenager growing up, and how Jesus took me up from the puddle of muck, the cold and unfeeling selfish little thing i was, and showed me how it felt like to love, i just can't help but say, that i love Jesus with all my heart and soul. as i said a thousand times before, i can doubt anyone, anyone. I could have people dear to me leaving one by one, i could have myself stripped of all my worldly gains, but i could never doubt the Lord. For He's proven Himself faithful.

Exams are nearing in less than 2 weeks. The Lord says, "Do not be afraidm nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies whom you fight" (Joshua 10:25)
It has been spoken. When you cling on for dear life, fight so hard on your own, God can't fight for you. did you hear that? or were you so busy you missed His still and small voice?

today was a good day! got back the result of the test i dreaded so much a week back. got 77%, which completely threw me off my feet and put a stupid grin across my face, considering i could jolly well have passed up a blank paper if i had sit for the first test.

Thanks gideon, for all the well-meaning concerns.. but i can just never sleep early, you see. haha. lets go get your ipod on saturday!
Thanks Garrett, for the timely wake-up call. Though i don't know you, you have encouraged me, in more ways than one.
Thanks rudy, for just doing what you do and being where you are. =)

i love my life.

erh.. that was a gigantic post. bye!

mood: tickled
eating: Ritz cheese biscuits

cheesy cheese...

G'day world. phew.. many long nights of work and assignments had just culminated into the craziest week of the semester. had marketing presentation on tuesday (like finally), studied for the much dreaded test on thursday, gave tuition on thursday night, came back and rushed my lab report due on friday, and started on my SS assignment due in 2 days' time (eeks). i lost count on the number of nights i slept barely 4 hours. stayed in rudy's studio on thursday night doing work on my laptop while he rushed his submission. helped him occasionally with his model, and trudged back to hall only at 7 am in the morning. yep, didn't sleep a wink the whole night. grabbed quick breakfast and had lecture at 8am, ended my lessons at 12 noon, caught a short nap before leaving for cellgroup meeting at 6. After that, me, huiru, darren and andrew rushed to church for overnight prayer meeting. left at 1.30am and headed back to hall, made totally broke by all the cab taking. finally settled down at 3am after editing my assignment photos...

and off i went. to my well-deserved 8 hours' slumber. ahhh... i forgot how it feels like to sleep.

the prayer meeting was great! been a long time since the church last had an overnight prayer meeting and it was a pity i couldn't stay all the way til 5am.. unless i never want to recover from my flu and get rid of my eyebags.

my test on thursday wasn't as dreadful as i expected. in fact, it was not bad at all! the questions were fairly manageable. the professor probably got lazy setting questions for merely 4 make-up test candidates. so glad i chose not to go for the actual test. he told us to "take our time" when 1 hour was up so i could check through my workings. *gloats*

thank you, Lord. just the encouragement that i need. =)

anyways, encountered many lame incidents today i just had to blog them down.

went to the dentist at noon today, after which i took a stroll down Orchard Road for my long overdue eye-treats. forget that i mentioned i was broke. intended only to window shop but whaddya know. a girl's credibility in such statements are rarely to be believed. but that's not the point.

messaged monica to ask her to recommend me a hairstylist. it was high time i trim my overly long locks, even if that means having a naggy boyfriend for a day. so she asked me to go to this place at cineleisure and look for Lancelot the hairstylists.

upon reading her message i stoned into my handphone screen and giggled in the bus like a loon. what. his mom read him Hamlet for bedtime stories too??

After my constant misfortune with hairstylists where the last few i frequented either passed away or resigned, apparently this one is no different. "Lancelot has left the company", i was told. very well, no mister Arthur's knight on the menu. so i was referred to another hairstylist, miss KOKO Lee. oh good heavens, what's with all the fantasy names?? Thankfully she looks nothing like the chinese singer, otherwise i would have had a hard time trying to decide between coughing and laughing where i was standing.

went to fond hugs and was browsing thourgh the slippers when this saleslady came over and said,

"These are footwears and they have sizes."

Hmm... this is puzzling. i always thought they were meant elsewhere.

so i came back to hall hundred odd buckeroos poorer. and i gotta have my wisdom tooth removed sometime soon. -shudders-

my baby is getting baptised tomorrow. yay!! =D

Love this song! i think it's lounge music. am listening to it off somebody's blog. hee.
my mood have been rotten these two days, everything is just getting too much to handle. for a moment i rewinded back to my much younger days, when the only sensible thing to do when i was stressed was to cry. yes, imbecile i know. but now, i think i've just lost my tear glands altogether. what i felt was just pure suffocation, desire to break free, and anger for letting myself fall into such a sorry predicament.

i don't think rudy has seen me so stressed before, and i believe it was taxing and mind-draining altogether. i say having one grouchy girlfriend like yours truly is no joke. and armed with a runny nose, an excruciating toothache, a headache that won't go and an injured nerve at the sole of my foot, i simply lost all emotions and rationale thinking. talking was such a chore and walking was literally such a pain. all i wanted to do was grab my passport, buy an air ticket and fly away somewhere. sleeping came close second.

i feel bad because darling has been so patient. and i felt rotten because i behaved like a total pain. and as though that wasn't enough, now he had to share some of my flu germs as well. with submissions and all coming up. won't you love to hate me just by reading this?

CM1161 is stressing me up so bad, i would probably remember professor J.S. for as long as i live. For his dignity's sake i shall keep his name confidential. but really.. i've never encountered any one lecturer whose lectures are so utterly unhelpful, tests were always full with confusions, group assignments were never gone through (already he doesn't conduct tutorials), and expect us to grow a second brain overnight and sit for exams. which is in all but 4 weeks and i honestly know jackshit about everything. drawing salary for absolutely unjustified purposes.
felt so sick today and had giddy spells during sermon this afternoon. wanted to conk quite bad.

anyways, on to a lighter note, rudy came over after his little cousin's bday celebration in the evening and sneaked over heaps of food for our dinner. 8 KFC chicken wings, 7 blueberry muffins, 2 sticks of chocolate marshmallows and 2 large mashed potatoes. and he ran off without even finishing them! so now i've got 5 wings, 3 muffins (do the math. *sheepish grin*), 1 marshmallow and 1 mashed potatoes. gave a few wings to jianwei since he happened to pop by and was hungry.

gideon where are youuuu when i need youuuuuuu?????

mood: bleahhh...
hooked on to: Love song by Five for Fighting

After weeks worth of ordeal battling with headaches, lethargy, cant-get-outta-bed syndrome and zombie-ing around feeling woozy and behaving like a total clutz, the inevitable has become obvious.

i'm down with flu.

*sniff*

i feel totally like a parasite. sans 6 legs.

shouldn't get near anyone, might as well hibernate somewhere.

been feeling like such a loser these few days, which started with me forgetting to bring my ezlink card the other day when watching movie with rudy. then with much complacency, i didn't bother to take the bus ticket after paying the cash. and suay suay, a conductor came to do a passenger check. so i had to pay again. no coins. rudy had to help me pay.

tragedy #2. The trip on the rainy day. 'nuff said.

tragedy #3. misplaced my ezlink card, only to find it in the pocket of one of my skirts hanging in my cupboard after ransacking my room inside out and upside down in search of that stupid piece of plastic. wasted so much time, in the end had to take a cab to cellgroup.
and whaddya know, after clumsily rushing out of hall to embark on my eventual journey with my ezlink card finally in my grasp and half-boarding the bus, realisation hit.

i left my wallet in my room while in the quest of searching for that missing plastic.

tragedy#4, which was today, the strap of my sandals snapped while i was chasing after the bus, resulting in me accidentally pressing my foot very hard against the high end of the sandals. i think i injured a nerve somewhere, had to limp my way around. double-ouchie. the discomfort was so disturbing that i ended up taking a cab back after meeting my mum.

and now i've got a blocked waterhose in place of a functional nose.

ARGH.

but it's ok. tomorrow is a brand new day. =)

*sniff*
