mood: contemplative

It is incredible how no matter how much will power i muster as i enter my applied chemistry lecture determined to decode what that german-accented professor is mumbling, after 10 desperate minutes, i promptly vegetated into an ignoramus hippopotamus. the new age breed of lost and clueless undergraduate.

God, my headache is killing me.

I ought to blog more often. My vocabulary bank is dwindling with age and lack-a-use, my coherence of thoughts waning and dispersing into random snippets of thought bubbles, and my capability of communicating fluently sadly inadequate. All tribute to the vice of laziness. bah.
i'm feeling the pinch, now that i'm cornered into regurgitating out a piece of literature essay, marketing report which doesn't seem to see the light of day, SS submission, and what not. So often i find myself stumped with a big fat cork clogging my left brain. or is it right?
i just. don't. know. what. to. write.

on to more physical issue... i don't like what i saw on the weighing scale. too lazy to exercise... argh.. hopefully i'll burn some calories by making my brain cells work OT tonight. =)

payday!

mood: giddy giddy giddy
hooked on to: the stillness of the library

Zoomed straight to science library after my organic chem lecture with my lapdog. i mean laptop. this is it. i shall resolve never to go back to hall anymore after lecture cos chances are, the beckoning bed always proves to be too much of a temptation. 2 hours down the drain. always. you evil bed.
so i mugged lunchtime away together with stella the genius, who finished her tutorial in an hour and is already getting fidgety. *looks at her*
i managed to finish my marketing group assignment. well sorta. praise the Lord!
see garrett, i am not a complainer. haha.

i am an unhealthy sleeper. been getting headaches so often nowadays, and it's always during unopportune moments like while typing away on my lapdog a few minutes ago, that it hit me. the kind like in cartoon shows where you have a bird that hits a tree and you see stars spinning around its head. the only difference is that i did not hit a tree.

Went to see my mum yesterday and we had a discussion about my aussie plans, which sadly have to be shelved for now, lest i want to be an inconsiderate whiner who doesn't mind draining my family resources to go the the land of the free while my folks survive on breads. i never thought i would have to be one who would have to slog my way through university doing a course i don't really enjoy. i never thought i would have to compromise on my temporal happiness academics-wise due to circumstantial disadvantages. but His ways are higher than my ways and His thoughts higher than my thoughts. so i pray that in these 2 years while i attempt not to lose my sanity in NUS, He will pull me through, take my hand and speak new visions into my life. For everything happens for a reason indeed, and to live life in obedience is never not a sacrifice.

i have many things to say, but i would have to shut up now cos i'm hungry and i have a lecture to attend in half an hour's time. *growl*

byebye.

mood: feverish

my tutee's parents didn't pay me! eeks. hope they didn't forget about it altogether cos i sure make a lousy loanshark. i just don't have the courage to ask someone for money. *bites fingers*

feeling a little under the weather still. and i didn't get to use my umbrella again, despite rainy weather and all. cos it stopped raining by the time i came out of hall. -mutter mutter-
the umbrella curse.

today i've been rather high on Green & Herb Tea. the bottle says INVIGORATING Green & Herb Tea. so i sure hope to see the effects tonight or else i'm gonna sue that organic farm.

oops forgot to change fishtank water. boy, my 18 baby guppies are growing fast.
i am one proud mama. =)

was thinking to myself that i ought to make it a habit to wake up early morning all over again. The sheer inevitability and helplessness that always managed to drag me out of bed at 6.30am in the morning during my bittersweet JC days is, i tell you, long gone gone gone.

i shall try again, for the thousandth time this month, to wake up at 7 tomorrow and do a morning jog around Heng mui keng - Science park. maybe circulating some blood to my brain will just do the trick to demagnetise my body from the bed.

mood: lethargic

pitter patter rittle rattle
Retired to bed early last night feeling rather feverish, and woke up early this morning feeling jelly and still a little warm. It was raining cats and dogs and the weather was just so sleep-inducing that i promptly plopped back to bed after breakfast at the comm hall.

woke up again at around 11 to rudy's call, who was equally jellied by the weather, such that he missed 8 of my morning calls earlier. humpfff...

came back from the doc a while ago due to rudy's persistent concern (read : nagging -hehe) and turned out that it's really no biggie. paracetamol and ascorbic acid should do the trick, according to the big doc.

had marketing project meeting in the morning and i've had the misfortune of being stuck with the deadest and most disinterested fellas who made my rather miserable school life even more dreadful.

cookie monster need a break... =(

Gotta teach tuition later. payday is here! ooh la la.
dear, you still want your dinner treat? =)

hooked on to: Glory to the King by Christian City Church

the ONLY thing i loathe about rainy weather is, i tell you, the wet slippery ground.
skipped my organic chem lecture and went to central library to do a bit of work, where there's no horizontal resting place for me to skive. managed to squeeze out fragments of my marketing assignment from my fried and dried brain, til my laptop officially died at around 1pm. so i took a short stroll to biz canteen intending to grab a quick bite.
the sky was threateningly dark.

"a-ha. must go back to hall and bring my new and hardly used umbrella out.", i thought.

within barely 10 seconds of me writing that mental note, a drastic change of the weather, almost like a blatant mockery of my non-symbiotic relationship with the umbrella*, saw the lightning-speed progression of a mere gray sky to a slight drizzle, and to a humongous, heavy, full-grown violent downpour. ten seconds! imagine how absolutely outrageous.

*you see, for as long as remember, i absolutely do not recall ever utilising an umbrella because it always rains when i happen not to bring that darned thing, and never ever rain when i determinedly lug it along.

so while scurrying my way to biz canteen like a wet rat, which was only around 20 steps away but felt like it lasted eternity, i tripped on a puddle of water, did a semi-matrix act, and there you have it. my worst nightmare came true.

i hate, i hate, i hate, i absolutely hate slippery floors.

and if you are an NUS student, you should know how business fac looks like. it is a frenzy of staircases!!!!!! what on earth is wrong with the bloody architect??! and as though rainy weather is not bad enough, the daft cleaner uncle chose to mop the floor around the staircase (and mind you that is only the first flight) just when i was about to embark on my treacherous descent.

GOD! if i may exaggerate a little, that seriously sent me to an immediate mental state of hysteria.

should i wait until the floor dries?

but i'll be late for lecture.

should i just go ahead and walked graciously down the stairs? for heaven's sake it's just stairs!

but what if i trip?!

Of course in the end i reached hall safely to change into dry clothings. but you have no idea how traumatising it was. i tell you,
Absolutely. no. i-d-e-a.

howdie hoo everyone!

I finally crawled out of my hermit shell and greeted civilisation "hello" by taking a bus out of NUS and watching a movie. *claps and throws confetti and blows balloon*
caught Robots with rudy in the evening after mugging Good Friday afternoon away. seriously, do people reading my blog ever wonder about what kind of life i have?? or the absence of it rather. it's always about school. and hall. and school. and hall. oh did i mention school? yes. and of course hall.
anyways, i enjoyed Robots tremendously. i think the word-play and puns were very clever and hilarious. loved the fantastic graphics too. as much as i loved Incredibles.

am in rudy's studio now attempting to do some productive reading as an atonement for today's sinful movie. but the aftertaste of Robots obviously doesn't go quite well with my marketing textbook. *vomits content out of system*

To my amusement and wide-eyed wonder, rudy, who apparently has a bottomless pit for a stomach, had for himself a KFC 3-piece chicken meal, complete with cheese fries and whipped potato, and 2 minutes ago innocently asked if i'm up for supper. how not to get fat you tell me.

but then again, if rudy's stomach is a bottomless pit, Gideon's is probably a blackhole.
hahaha.

it's ok. Love is patient, love is kind. and love is willing to invest in cooking lessons. =)

tmr is the first Easter service. =)
On this day two thousand years ago Christ died for you and I.
Do you know the beautiful story of easter?

a quick glance at the calendar pinned on my corkboard found me throwing my arms in despair and surrender at the merciless passing of time. freshman year is coming to an end, and whether i like it or not, time will still tie a string around my neck, give it a violent tug and force me to move on. Lack of exam preparation aside... boy, what a year it has been. Around the same time last year, a gullible and excited junior college graduate i was. fresh from the oven, oblivious to my impending turmoil as an NUS student.

my brief stint as a camouflaged chem engin freshie, my first and only orientation, all the fun at sentosa, all the teasing and what not, a short story that never saw a proper ending.
my first sleepless night in hall, the block orientations, IBGs, block suppers, morning breakfast calls, ponding, my first lecture, my first stroll around campus, the ginseng tea, the 4am chat at the bus stop, my first visit to SDE, the tune by Jim Brickman, all the late night suppers, all the late night "mugging", the wrongly-sent sms, the all too familiar fuzzy feeling when my stomach did its somersaults, and the rest is history. mine and only mine to keep. =)

i miss those carefree days... when the grass on my side is always greener than anywhere else.

speak, Lord...

whoever big shot at NUS who lets a lecture slot be put at the ungodly hour of 8-10 am ought to be hung. finally brought my laptop into the lt today as a prevention action to falling asleep for the thousandth time. however, still, my eyelids are drooping as soon as the lecturer started yakking. i am seriously at my wits' end.

if only i didn't fall asleep yesterday, i wouldnt have missed my tuition and i wouldnt have needed to make an extra trip to clementi to tutor that incorrigible little liar.

i am tired beyond belief. i think i should just leave this lt. hmmm...

somebody please pick up a gun and just shoot me. my recently acquired penchant for sleeping excessively is, i tell you, mind-boggling. came back from lecture at 12 and promptly settled on yes, my dear bed, at 12.30. woke up only after three freaking sinful hours. how can this be when my tutorials and readings less than a metre away seem to be perpetually demanding immediate attention? it's the power of slumber. oh rock-a-by baby.

the thought of going overseas to study seems to be intensifying day by day and uncomfortably looming in my mind at most untimely moments. like when i'm supposed to be studying for a test, or when i'm staring at a pile of tutorials. Especially after talking to gideon the other day, we reached a mutual agreement that singapore is just.. *shakes head*

so many things to consider, so little time. and somehow i'm not quite ready to uproot myself just yet. how now brown cow...

On to a lighter note, it was rudy's 21st birthday 2 days ago. =)
we went to Clarke Quay for a nice dinner after our lessons and it was such a nice break which is so perfectly justifiable. i wished everyday could be like that, no tutorials to bog me down, no unseen strings around my neck threatening my very sanity i'm about to lose. is it just hall? or is it everything else?

choices, choices. decisions, decisions.

gotta go for some more comm work. i hate it i hate it i hate it.

The reason i can afford the luxury to blog at this hour is thanks to my best friend, who's torn me away from the obligation of attending organic chemistry lecture and allowed me to rest on my bed. i mean.. blog on my laptop. wait i mean... do prelab assignment with no distraction.

Mark is taking Lucky away this afternoon in precisely 2 hours time. oh for the benefits of the ignorant 'uns, or those who don't know her name is Lucky (yes suzanne do refrain from getting into fits where you're sitting), Lucky is a tortoise Rudy rescued from the perils of death, of being sun-baked and left to death in one of the longkangs in singapore about a month ago. she (yes it's a she) has since resided in my room, more precisely under my bed in a spacious cardbox, very well taken care of with loads of daily xiao bai cai, her apparent favourite.

for hygiene reasons she would have to go... sad. i've gotten to used to having a breathing moving thing under my bed, i would have to get used to devoting myself fully to my guppy again.
i'm really going to miss this little fellow. hope she will be happier in mark's big garden. hope his mum doesn't cook her up in a fit of hunger.

this is outrageous! i'm supposed to be doing my prelab. grargh...

near breaking point
Life has passed me by so fast. Many things have happened, and being the lazy blogger that i've evolved to become, they just dont get immortalised in writings.
Thanks Gideon, for the super early bday present. =) This sweet fella got me the turquoise Armani tee that i was eyeing for, where the salesperson bursted my bubble by announcing that the counter was already closed. it was 10pm plus.

Had many qualms about the purchase due to its exorbitant price. So when the next day he ringed to say that he was in town and offered to get it for me, i relented only after much yakkety-yak on this persistent fella's part. And i was touched that rudy actually contacted gid and offered to pay as well, before discovering that it was meant as an early bday pressie.

thanks suzanne for the butterfly necklace too. hmmm.. what's with all the early presents?
actual day = no business???

Thank God for the few nice people in my life. =)

another event worth mentioning, *drumrolls*

i lost my handphone.

i was exasperated at the inconvenience of being handphone-less. But strangely, after a few hours of rotten mood and disbelief for being so clumsy, i didn't feel as upset as i thought i would be. psychologically, it was like a load off my chest, almost like the cliche chinese new year chant, get rid of the old, give way to the new. In a way, it's an excuse to get rid of the numbers of people who have disappeared from my world, inevitably. or better still, numbers i couldn't even recall belonging to who. Am using rudy's ancient nokia 8210, which i quite like. =)
Don't have the intention of splurging on a new phone. think i'll just get my mum to bring back my dad's spare 6100 the next time she comes.

afterall, phones are just... phones. of course gideon will violently object to this statement. hah.

it seems as though my mind and body have gotten into cahoots to function each on their own. No doubt my mind, being the slower, more emotional one, has been hibernating in Sheares Hall, D506, behind closed doors, under the blanket with lights off, for the past few months or so. really, it was that long.
My physical body gets up and about doing draggy chores, puke-inducing must-dos, only to retire at the end of the day realising that its bosom pal, the mind, doesn't connect at the same frequency anymore.

i feel like an automated mannequin programmed to walk and talk, to the extent that i dont even recall tremendously enjoying what i do. for God's sake my memory is so bad that i struggle so hard just to remember what i did last saturday, what top did i wear yesterday?

i've decided to say bye-bye to Sheares Hall in a year's time. no longer am i going to sacrifice my youth doing meaningless comm stuff and going for band practice which i dont even enjoy, sadly but true. A place to learn? that's bull*.
I want my sanity back, away from uncompromising, selfish, insensitive people who know not to put themselves in others' shoes.

Maybe my 500ml capacity was never meant for a litre's worth of junk. i can only pray that let this be a lesson learnt the hard way, that the Lord may increase my capacity to love, to accept, and to do more things for the greater purpose of His calling.

i was so stressed til the verge of crying to sleep yesterday. so in the middle of the night, after coming back from band practice at 12midnight to loads of revisions and work to do, i proceeded to...

doing a major spring cleaning.

for an hour and a half, i vacuumed my floor, conquered stubborn corners hiding dusts and hair, rearranged my books, wiped the floor, table, got rid of whatever trace of dust within my eyes' sight and my arms' reach, threw away some junk, washed my IKEA ladybug carpet, spent a moment throwing smug looks at my incredible feat given circumstantial constraints, and lay on my bed finally in some cheap contentment, waiting for rudy to call and come from his studio. and he's evil. didn't call, and the next time i woke up it was no longer 3.30 as promised, it was 7.15am. the sun was bright and shining. -__-

i miss rudy!

so now my room is spick-and-span, floor feels glossy smooth. lets see how long this will last.
man, spring cleaning is seriously an excellent way to destress. mark my word.

Benny Hinn is coming to town! can hardly wait, seeing people getting miraculously healed by the work of the Lord is simply mind-blowing. My God is just awesome. =)

for now,
goodbye.
