mood: ashamed by my laziness.
hooked on to: Another Day in Paradise by Brandy

I ought to be shot for still having the cheek to blog. Outta bed at 8.30 as usual for wakie-brekkie, and THEN, back at 9am and plop i went, back to bed, determinedly setting my alarm at 10am, mentally chiding myself that i should start mugging my lazy bum off, off, off my comfortable bed. one more hour, i thought.
But hail to the queen of procrastination, one hour dragged to four freaking hours.
spent the past hour catching up on marketing readings. still miles to go. oh the road is so long.

What a week it has been.

To predict life, in our naive perspective and occasional smug predilection for things we thought we understand, is in retrospect, a mockery to our very Maker. A severe complacency which undermines the fact that indeed, His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

For what is truth, but chapters of our very own story, little zigsaw pieces that collectively assemble the collage of who we are, with any missing piece making us nothing but incomplete. For what is truth, but God's way of teaching us to face up to our fears, to love, to trust.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." _1John4:18

mood: accomplished
hooked on to: Somewhere only we know by Keane

just came back from a session of lone late night run. I ran up central library, down clementi road, past fong seng and back to sheares. wanted to run the A2 bus route but it was nearly 1am, pitch dark and God knows if there's anything hiding behind the bushes.

Never knew running could be such a release. For once i actually didnt feel the slightest urge to stop and when i was approaching hall i was rather tempted to run another round.
i ought to make this a healthy habit.

Gotten myself some tetras to bring back life to my dead study table. hopefully they survive long this time. :)

Managed to put up the music video on my blog too, courtesy of alexie. Am currently so in love with this song. 'cept that the said video of insane and not-exactly-good-looking men seeming as though they just popped ecstacy pills and got high in the middle of a forest isn't quite.. err.. as soothing as they sound. shall change it soon.

Been a long day, to bed it is!

mood: at loss
hooked on to: A day without rain by Enya

Today was a reasonably productive day, did a fair bit of reading of the past lecture notes. Went to central library whereby i was practically stuck at the RBR section and the photocopying room attempting to dilligently print my SS readings. Collected my unexpectantly dog-eared second-hand marketing textbk from lydia too, at 25 bucks.

gotta start getting down to some very very serious readings.

Just got my first SS assignment. Seems quite interesting despite me still unsure of how to approach the topic. In layman's term, basically everyone is given different distinguishing historical features of s'pore and we're supposed to do an analysis of the said landmark/statues/whatsoever.

The personality of place ("genius loci" in Latin) depends on both the morphology (building, space, architecture, artifacts), sociology (usage, function, community), and memory of people who are attached to it. There are many places in Singapore which have special meaning and identity. Due to rapid social and physical changes many of them simply vanished, but some of them persisted.
This assignment is to help you to understand architecture as an interrelationship of physical articulation and social inhabitation processes, transformed over time. Read the article, visit the place, try to find the building, talk to people, do a small research (browse internet, look for maps, find old pictures, take new photos, make sketches, etc.), and write your report.

and the landmark assigned to me is...

The Door Gods of Orchard Road, the 2 Tang dynasty ceramic statues at Hilton Hotel.
These two chinese persona were known as the guardians of the doorways, springing from the alleged soothing protection they provided emperor Tang at night after he spent many sleepless hours in his bed as evil spirit supposedly haunted his nights.

In reminiscence of secondary school & JC days, i dont think i've ever gotten a homework this interesting. Doesn't seem that easy too, but i want to do well this semester. badly.
mug, mug, mug.
*mutter-mutter*

Havent seen rudy for 2 days already. Feels rather strange, but i ought to get used to it. :(

mood: blessed.

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing I asked for- But everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.

I am, among all men, Most richly blessed.

mood: sad -my guppy died-
hooked on to: Sway by Bic Runga

The second week of lectures & mobilisation of hall activities have seen me determinedly attempting to settle down into semester 2's cant-get-out-of-NUS life, half successfully and still trying.

Tutorial allocation results have just been released. All in all, my timetable is quite reasonable compared to last semester's 3 lab prac modules which saw me insanely trying to complete lab reports most days of the week. But now i've got a tuition assignment twice a week, which effectively cancels out the teeny weeny bit of extra time i have. Therefore, solving the deceivingly simple algebraic equation, i present to you, the solution.

x= 0, and y= undisclosed number

where
x = overall difference in free time
y = income (yay yay yay!)

that was rather fair.

Rudy's timetable is apparently quite bad, and upon second thought, i realise that bad is too general a term and too severe an understatement. After some reluctant calculation, i discover that it means seeing him most probably only on weekends for cg and svc and probably friday night for dinner at... fong seng?

oh well... sometimes circumstantial restrictions in life simply makes it inevitable that we're to let go of certain things which we otherwise would have loved to keep. give a little, take a little...
in anticipation, expectancy, with much faith, hope and love, i long to see how this semester is going to turn out to be.
Yet, out of so many definitions that life has accumulated in its very own dictionary, nothing is more apt than the fact that,
life is but a series of sacrifices.
life is but countless valleys to be crossed, to be conquered.

Certain adjustments have to be made, but i'm holding on, for the bible says that i am an overcomer. i can doubt anyone. anyone. anyone. But the words of the heavenly Father is true. and that's all i need to know. :)

anyways. Me and suz happily trotted to the SME bazaar at the arts forum after our marketing lecture and after making our quizzical analysis of the stalls, fully justifying ourselves since this is supposed to be a market survey for the upcoming sheares bazaar, discovered this stall which turned out to be the supplier for X:odus, which was selling pretty ethnic-looking beaded bags. Now if you've gone shopping with me often enough, you would realise that i'm not immune to such sinful deals, especially if the deal in focus is at around 50% of those displayed in the shop itself. So, of course, me and suz went crazy, in the shopaholic term, and left the bazaar having added 2 new bags each to our collection and laughing like crazy hyenas, much to Wenlee's outrage that we didn't jio her.

the shopaholic sisters. haha.

oh well, i should start mugging like that crazy mugger whose activity suzanne has been monitoring. i wonder how he can stay rooted to his study table for so long. Then again, he's probably that busy studying that he couldnt even bother shutting his blinds, even if it means the whole block D residents can see him everytime we make a trip to the toilet.

mood: sentimental
hooked on to: Flyaway by Corinne May

If i can go to the sea
Spend a day thinking about you and me
The clouds sail past and the waves roll by
Ushering the thoughts of you and I

If i can go to the sea
Surely things may be clearer to see
Underneath the rocks, behind the clouds or even faces maybe
Shadows i never could see amidst my foolish glee

If i can go to the sea
The gentle sun retreats and darkness' all i see
Into the constellation i gaze and on the sand i lay
Perhaps the scenario dancing in my mind may play

And as i squish and squirm and stay afloat
Mind heart and soul planted in this boat
I wonder why it feels so cold
The night never was so overwhelmingly bold

In many things wisdom that's my own does not suffice
As i ponder I'm lost in imperfection and vice

In the Lord's glorious light i claim my bliss
The dawn breaks and I still wish...

If i can go to the sea
Yours truly

4.40 am in the morning, ask me why am i not sleeping.
i have guppies, pineapple tarts and cheese sticks staring at me, thanks to rudy and mummy dearest respectively. (hey it rhymes)
sitting here in the dark with only the desk light on and corinne may's Journey playing in the background (yes, again), i'm beginning to immensely enjoy the pleasure of the solitude and still air that i used to loathe. If only my body clock isn't ticking, i could stay awake forever.

i'm getting a little homesick. maybe not entirely, i just want to go to places where i've never been. sometimes familiarity breeds contempt indeed. and God never created us for comfort zones anyway. Today's svc was fantastic. And as i was lost in worship and tears, i was reminded by how much i loved praising God. And when i stood on stage singing with the choir, i wished i had the power to beseech people to experience the same kind of joy i feel when i praise God.
For the bible says, Strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. (Heb12:12-13)

The joy of the Lord carries strength. The joy of the Lord carries power and conviction. How joyful it is to praise! How joyful it is to dance and lift up our hands in awe and surrender, for our God is so very good.

i ought to sleep. tommorrow is a brand new day. ;)

mood: capsized
hooked on to: everlasting love by Jamie Cullum

blogging has become an increasingly draggy affair. why do i have to overcome so much inertia in the simple quest of dissecting the mind-heart-soul trio and spilling whatever is inside the melting pot of thoughts and emotions. beats me.

i'm so very tired. and to say that it is purely physical, albeit true, would be a half truth which cannot be further from the whole truth.

oh Lord, grant me the strength to run with endurance and faith the race that You've set before my eyes. Long the road may be, Your love is unfailing, Your grace never runs dry.

I completely forgot about my EN1101 lecture at 8am this morning and stupidly and incorrectly thought that it was 10am until lydia dragged me back to earth from dreamland by the means of a morning phone call.

"Where are you?"

me: ...

and then the realisation hit. And while deciding whether to slit my wrist or wring my neck and suppressing the urge to scream into my pillow, i managed to think rationally and figured that the first lecture normally doesn't cover much anyway, other than the lecturer's attempted humour to coerce gullible students into believing that they've gotten themselves an easy module, or their dry jokes and silly introduction which includes family photos, pet photos and a thorough and concise traceback of his family history.
nothing much to miss, not mentioning the fact that i wouldn't be able to rush there on time anyway, in my state then. think bad hair day, puffy eyes, migraine, an empty stomach, disappearance of appetite and an unpacked bag.

boy, i'm good at consoling myself, am i not?

so i went back to sleep. after finding out that i had cramps too.

had hockey training in the afternoon. now i'm feeling as nua as a jellyfish and my appetite seems to have completely abandoned me for the time being. Therefore my stomach feels empty and flat. which calls for a celebration. yay.

somebody save me.

snoozing for 13 hours straight does feel good.
i thought 37.1C was considered normal body temperature but rudy insisted that it was a slight fever and hence the order to come back and sleep straight after our dinner at fongseng.
We had Block Shine yesterday. A supposed attempt to clean up the whole block before the new semester starts. seriously, they should just channel all their energy into upgrading the kitchen. yes. the kitchen.

So, while the peeps were doing their scrub-a-rub around the block and past my room, there i was hybernating. had people knocking on my door and curiously peering in to see what i was doing. But i was too knocked out to poke my head out of my blanket anyway. So they got the idea.

starting next semester, i'm gonna seriously cut down on pointless hall activites. literally and figuratively.

My temperature is 36.8C now. yay! does that mean i can go out already? =)

mood: unwell
hooked on to: Each Time by E17

When i woke up this lazy morning, i half wished that my bed would open up and swallow me whole so that i can sleep some more and more and more for ever and ever.
If you define a morning by how perked up you're supposed to be when you're up, then this is a BAD morning indeed.
i feel absolutely groggy. The flu is starting to poke its ugly head in the form of persistent headache and a stupid nose that wont stop running. As though that's not enough, my whole body aches from yesterday's hockey training. But hopefully yesterday's running, situps and pushups (which jianfa said looks more like arm bends. hah.) managed to burn off the Pringles that i tried hard to resist but failed rather miserably the day before.

Suzanne went on a shopping spree yesterday and she bought me a projectshop pouch which we were eyeing a while back. thanks suz! *grins*
yay, a new pouch for the new year. Lay out the red carpet and throw the confetti for the upcoming Ms. Frugal. Maybe someone cast a spell on my old wallet. How else do you explain the inexplicable mess in expenditure and the mysterious loss of money?

shift the blame. it works all the time.
