mood:  hungry.
this will probably be my last entry before i get to buy my notebook. will be settling down in sheares for good already. starting tmr evening.
but just heard that the notebook will only arrive 2 weeks after ordering. disturbing.
today's cellgrp meeting was fantastic! prepared food afterwards & man, we wiped out a feast. next time should make more, right alex? :D
the mango dip minus the 2 spoonfuls of sugar was great. and my green apple salad with croutons was not bad okay! it's not my problem that some of you are such vegetable-phobic. haha. yes, shameless i know. but on a more serious note, do eat more vegetables, they're good for your health really. and i shall stop here before i start sounding like some health freak that most of you already think i am.

hmm.. will blog somemore later. my blogging mood just evaporated. *poof*

changes.
i'm going to change the URL to my blog. any of you who visits me, do get back to me for the new URL and tell me your URL too so that i can link you. if not, i guess it's bye-bye. :)

spent my first night in hall on thursday night. MAN, it was literally an eye-opener. yes, literally and figuratively. you know the feeling of thinking that you're asleep but actually you're not. and as the result you wake up in the morning completely exhausted because you were simply NOT SLEEPING. i need a proper, nice, big pillow and something to hug. so that night in my pathetic attempt to enter dreamland i was hugging my thick sweater. which was apparently not thick enought cos in the end i was still pretty much awake. pure torture.

hmm.. loads of things to update on the past 2 days of isolation from the computer. especially on that freak incident with that business graduate. eeewks. and other nitty gritty stuff which is the cause of this persistent migraine. urghhh. but.. -stretches-
i'm lazy.

caught up with rudy yesterday for coffee & life updates. another one of those people i'm surprisingly comfortable talking about things with. went to look at guitar too!
so far he's the only one person i know who's so totally in love with his course. man, architecture is practically like his girlfriend. haha.

iwebmusic seem to be down for some reason. hmmm...

didnt get my guitar on thursday. so tmr it shall be. *still excited*

mood: contemplative.

MODULES.
i think i'm more excited to take my GEMs than my core modules. crime fiction in english and chinese. hahaha!
msged me mum yesterday to tell her that i'd most probably need to buy a laptop. and it suddenly struck me that my mum, being the sacrificial individual that she always has been, rarely says no to whatever matters that i sometimes bring up. she always settles the problem by saying, "if you really need it, buy it."
man, dont you just love my mum?

i was sitting in the mrt on my way home from campus yesterday when these 2 cedar sec. girls happened to be standing in front of me, carrying shoebags, huge backpacks, wearing "cedar athletics club" t-shirts, with an absolutely burnt complexion that i remember i used to loathe with all my heart & soul during my hockey days.
these are 2 girls exactly like me (although better-looking), minus O'level days, ups & downs of JC life, distant memory of singing national anthems every friggin' morning, coming & goings of friendship, woes of exams, maybe some self-actualisation along the way, before realising that while you tried keeping yourself afloat amidst all the hoo-ha of teenage life, you dont look at life the same, and you're inevitably forced (handcuffed & dragged) to walk down the passage of adulthood.
and sitting here choosing my modules & settling admin paperworks, i must say that growing up... sometimes sucks.

nevertheless! move on we all must. something better awaits.

just as how i've been so absurdly committed to my blog these few days, i realise that i should keep my commitment on higher things as well. Pst. Sun is pregnant!! i'm so excited for her, really. :)

thursday! thursday! new guitar!
*grin*

i just got myself an iwebmusic account. now my blog is gonna play songs. depending on my mood. haha. man, i'm in love with my blog cos it's just so me.
the reason by hoobastank. beautiful.
lyrics.
any of you who violently objects, do turn off your speakers. :)

mood: hurting all over.

a long way to go.
if there's one thing i hate about sengkang mrt, it's the hordes of buggers who seem to be perpetually blocking the path between the front door and the control station while holding survey forms and walking towards you in quick steps. -argh-
after awhile it just becomes a ritual (read: self-defense) to always have to walk determinedly, keeping your eyes straight while waving your hand and saying "no, no." in your desperate attempt to simply get out of the place.
normally that works fine.
so today i did my usual no-no gesture but this fella was like, "5 minutes? 1 minute? ok, 30 seconds??" and after almost reaching the exit door & he showed no sign of slowing down, i asked him, "are you going to follow me home?"
and that was how i ended up stuck listening to prudential's saving scheme, sumthing sumthing assurance plan and after a while my mind kinda just drifted off even while i was monotonously nodding my head in fake attention.
and i thought i was doing a great job, considering that it was 9pm, i was feeling hot, sticky, hungry and i've probably walked a grand total of 8km for the day, being stranded in the impossibly humongous NUS. more on that later.

so after he was done with his thing, i just had to end it off by saying "hmm.. yah i'll think about it & get back to you if i'm interested (i wasnt)."
and he went, "in that case can i have your hp number? (since i didnt fill that in the survey form)"
and i said as nicely as i could, "err.. i dont think so.."
at which point of time he whined a bit & said, "then just as a friend lah."
me: "....."

in the end i managed to get home. no phone number.

i logged into blogger having loads of things in my mind i wanted to rant about. about my quest in trying to locate the ulu canteen in fac of arts, about how jasmine was too equally clueless to give directions, about my idiocy in the NUS module bidding system, about how i ended up crashing the chem engin talks, about how i practically DIED 6 against 1. yes, clement, you're so going to die when i see you in sheares. you KNOW what i'm talking about. hahaaa.
and also about how i love my sheares room but cant say much about the people so soon.
err.. and some other things i cant remember.

i'm so bummed out i cant even blog properly without using primary-school-standard eng-gerish.

oh yah!
thursday = new guitar!!
*excited*

ok that's all.. i'm too tired to look at my science webpage. GEM webpage.. -snores-

mood: half-awake.
eating: toast. lousy breakfast.

is it just me or has everyone been lazy to update their blogs? and i shall answer my own question by stating that yeah, i think it's just me in one of my funny blogging moods.
i should cherish the last few apportunities to use the comp while i stil can, since i really dont know when i'll be having a comp/notebook to call my own. any of you buying? lets go shop for one!

you lose what you take for granted.
this quote by pst. kong has motivated me a lot. it not only keeps my feet on the ground, but also justifies some of the things i do. in all honesty. to let go is bliss.

during times like this, my blog truly is my best friend. haha.

hooked on to: Crossing over by CHC.

moved most of my stuff into my bunk in sheares hall already. my room is super nice & new! boy, am i excited.
you all must understand that this statement is coming from a poor girl who spent the past 5 years sharing a room with her grandmother. not exactly a very precious experience to behold.
it feels weird to be spoilt with so many compartments to put my things when previously i had to hide some of my knick-knacks at unseen corners so that grandmother wouldnt complain that i'm taking up too much space. it was like living with uncle scrooge.

i have these two tall cabinets to put my clothes & after moving everything in, there's still an awful lot of space left. geez. that makes it extra effort required to remind myself NOT to fill them up. i shudder when i think of the time when i would have to move those again.

anyway, right now as i'm typing this, i'm still in my guardian's place.
a pleasant surprise comes in the form of my auntie telling me that she wishes i would stay longer if possible til school officially starts. she said the house would be very quiet without me around. ha!
those of you who doesnt know our past feuds would probably not raise an eyebrow but those who do, you know what i mean.. :)
sheares only start catering meals next week once orientation starts on 26th july. so i would probably be starving myself empty if i root myself in so soon. since unlike the fortunate souls living in eusoff, i dont have eateries all around me. hrmpf.

argh.. uncle wants me to get off the comp. i should get a notebook soon.

sorry to have been boring you guys with mundane details. i'm just excited over boring stuff really.

mood: fidgety.
eating: a digestive biscuit.

it seems that i'll still be spending tonight in this house. dont think i can shift my mountain-high possessions in one go. the statistics now is : one huge suitcase, one medium suitcase, & one medium sized hand-carried bag. i'm not sure about you but i personally think that's a damn lot of things. if i bring along my pillow (yes, the hall doesnt provide pillows), bedsheets (they dont provide that too. i checked), washing detergents & some other stuff i've yet to sort, i might as well hire a van.
so..
yeah, i think i shld go check out the other occupants & see if they have the same problem. if they dont then i'm in deep shit. seriously.

mood: at loss.

parting entry (exaggerated).
the "major relocation" is finally coming. shifting in tmr. i'm not sure when i'll get to use the comp again, but hopefully quite soon. it appears that i've been unconsciously and faithfully blogging quite frequently for the past week (what's with the adverbs?). for an unknown reason that i myself cannot comprehend.
thanks for all my fantastic cellgrp members & friends who have been offering to help me with my shifting. but i know all of you are busy and just wanna let you know that your kind intention is very much appreciated. :)
and i have a gut feeling that this fella is going to fly my aeroplane again for the thousandth time.

really, man. come to think of it, i shouldnt have chosen sheares hall cos i just realised that it's so friggin' far from fac of science. a fact previously unknown to the stupid me who completely ignored the bus route & just happily drew lines from one place to another before deciding that sheares hall is the nearest one. which is not true. *cries*
should have chosen raffles or eusoff instead. argh...

my uncle has offered to give me his old & unused monitor. that's very kind of him really, except that the said monitor is this GIGANTIC, ancient piece of metal which belongs to the last generation of mammoth-sized gadgets. now how am i supposed to decline his offer without sounding like i'm some dainty, rich brat (which i'm absolutely not).

if only there's a dictionary for life's scenarios which permits you to say the politically-correct things at the right time. indescribable.

i owe my auntie supper at jalan kayu. speaking of which, my stomach has just decided to get hungry. see, appetite at weird hours and absence of it at the appropriate hours. sheesh.
so off i go, people. (to the kitchen)
til then..

mood: hungry
listening to: my mind telling me things.
eating: bonjour raisin loaf. cos there's nothing better to eat.

i really really cant wait to buy my guitar. i miss holding it. i miss strumming chords with it (eventhough i still suck at it). i miss getting blisters on my fingers playing it. i miss playing the worship songs & being lost in His presence playing it. i want my guitar...
2 more days and off to sheares hall i go. i'm trying to figure out how am i gonna spend the first few days over there since it's so ulu. funny, i just seem to have a thing with living in ulu places.
no computer. no msn. no baby cousins to keep me entertained when i'm bored out of my wits.
and singaporean students only get to move in a week later. hmm.. it's gonna be like living in a graveyard.
hope lydia gets her place in kent ridge so we'll be neighbours!
so people, do visit me if you live nearby. ha..
urghh.. stomachace acting up again.

my never-stay-in-one-place-for-long auntie just came back from visiting her daughter in england and she bought me a t-shirt from Mango. hahaha. you know what's so funny? that t-shirt has been on the shelves for as long as i can remember and it's now on sale in s'pore. and she had to buy it all the way from england. :D
but then again, it's the thought that counts. i really love this auntie cos she's just such a darling.
hmm.. will wear it to cellgrp later!

25th july.. :)

mood: full.

2nd post of the day.

i just had my dinner. yay, man.. my appetite is crawling slowly back. orientation camps sure are evil to your stomachs. thank God i didnt get diarrhoea like some people do. haha!
oh man.. i'm still trying to figure out how to effectively pack my things without looking like i've been insensibly buying things that i may not have needed for the past 6 years.
but then again, it's not my fault that i'm born a girl. it's not my fault that i happen to be an international student living in tiny little singapore, it's not my fault that my character is such that i'm sentimental enough to keep things other people would have thrown away (like clothes label). OKAY. maybe not sentimental, just plain quirky, alright?
and it jolly well is not my fault that i tend to end up buying things when initial intention was just to window-shop. the see-no-touch cases which ended as total flop.
i stll dont know what to do with the table lamp i accidentally bought in bali.

oh well. *raises up a white flag*
i guess i'm just like that.

speaking of shopping, i've sworn off shopping for the next 3 months, as in drastically cutting down on my expenses. and i know it's happening. indeed no sacrifice is too small. missions week! :)

overnight prayer meeting later. yay! finally i can go. gotta try to catch some sleep before setting off.

QT. God said He's willing. :)

had to babysit my 2 little cousins today. the maid was around of course otherwise i would have just DIED. isabella was absolutely fascinated by the bubble gum i was blowing. ohhh how adorable!!
she goes, "want, want, touch, touch." and follows me around to get me to blow one after another til my tongue felt so tired out from excessive bubble-blowing.

i realised 2 things:
1. my eyesight may be getting worse. maybe i should start dilligently wearing my specs.
2. when i'm happy i just cant. shut. up.

mood: good!
listening to: Take all of me by Hillsong

complicatedly simple or simply complicated?
-phew-
am finally back from my 4D3N orientation. did i mention that i missed the science orientation that i was supposed to attend? anw by chance i got approached by a senior who asked me if i was interested to join their chemical engineering camp. so i thot why not?
admittedly i was a tad apprehensive about going, even after paying & signing up. already, the first few trips to NUS made me feel like, as one puts it, a new fish in the fish tank.

actually i dont exactly feel like blogging now. but since i blog when my life isn't happening and i blog when i'm unhappy, i figured that i'm not doing myself justice if i dont make a mention of this orientation in my blog since it was such a fun affair and i'm glad i went for it. haha.

oh my, it's 6pm already. it feels like i just got out of bed a while ago. today feels unbelievably short! went to nus again today to submit some forms & collect my medical report. man, looking at my own chest X-ray totally grossed me out. ewwwks.
i seem to be having symptoms of eating disorder after the camp. i had 2 digestive biscuits for breakfast, 2 rice crackers & a kitkat for lunch today. and the funny thing is, i'm not exactly starved. i feel like i've lost my stomach. but but but! i feel thinner. and feeling thinner is never a bad thing. -evil laugh-

nothing's up today. just zombie-ing around and day-dreaming but most of the time i'm missing forza cos the company was simply great!
all the beach games made my face look like shit now but the programmes (fright night!) were really good and the fella who was my poor partner for most of the games was such a nice guy (and a JOKER!), eventhough i shocked him with my scream in the haunted house, failed to warn him of the steps on time and ran away leaving him during the amazing race. :D
the seniors were a great lot too and ohh.. melvyn bumped his car into a pole while sending us home yesterday night. man.. now i know what they mean when guys say that their car is their girlfriend.

reached home at 1.30am this morning, got locked out again for the hundredth time despite me already telling them in advance. i dont see what's their problem. really. and then, slept on the sofa again cos the visiting relatives were still around. urghh.. anw, moving into sheares hall in exactly a week's time. grandma has gone back to indo this morning so yay!! can finally have my QT in peace tonight.

oh yeah i was saying.. i went down to nus today to submit my application form to take up the Food science & tech Major. was quite stressed since it was such a tight deadline & i was admittedly still unsure about my own interest. terrible i know.
this year's intake is only about 30-40 students out of 150 so i wasnt even sure if i could make it there. anyway i talked to the professor about the details & requirements of the modules etc after i submitted my application form and i figured that hmmm... it seems like i'm going to like this course. the professor said that the result of the selection will be posted up in 3 days, but not before giving me a comforting thought, that he thinks my result will put me on the list.

at that moment i just felt a surge of pride. i was again reminded of the messy state i was in during my exam periods. how small i started & how far God has brought me. i'm proud that i serve a God who's able. a God who has done & will continue to do exceedingly & abundantly above what i could ask or think. i thank God that He's opened doors for me. i thank God that no matter how good or bad, He brought me through it all. :)

thoughts of the day:
-whatever you take for granted, that you will lose.

-the best thing about life is that God makes sure everything happens for a reason.

mood: very tired.
hooked on to: ...

medical check-up. bleargh.
went to NUS early morning to get my medical check up done. chest X-rays, blood test and the like. bla and more bla.
being a foreign student = extra blood test = PAIN.
my blood test was hilarious and frustrating. the nurse talked to me as though she was the hero in action rescuing little red riding hood from the big bad wolf. i felt absolutely infantile.
apparently the vein in my left arm decided to play hide-and-seek today. therefore, after poking long and painful enough to draw a few miserable drops of blood, the nurse (still having that funnily annoying tone) told me that she needed to play dracula on my other arm instead. great.

have i told you that medical check-up is highly unglam and embarrassing? shall not go into the details but one of the sections require one to pee into a little plastic cup and carrying it across the corridor (with people looking). now tell me about it. cruel. they dont even let us retain the little dignity of keeping our biological waste private. anyway, NUS is huge. had a leg-breaking time trying to locate the offices and it was only when i was ready to pack up & head home sweet home did i realise i forgot to submit a form at the other end of the campus. heck! i'm coming back another day. my darling feet are looking like ugly blister farms.

just came back not long ago from church. sleeping on the couch tonight. visiting relatives in my room. urghhh. how am i going to catch my well-deserved Z's with a sofa pillow that feels like a rock and deprivation of air-con??

sleeping pills to share, anyone?

listening to: canto alla vita by josh groban.

the most undesirable and nerve-wrecking part of freshmen year comes in the form of mountains and impossibly tedious paperworks and admin matters to be settled.

i didn't know we are supposed to bid for modules!!!?!

went back to NY to collect my A level cert this morning. kinda missed being in JC but i shan't wallow in nostalgia.
had an unexpected company today. met up with monica close to evening for walk-talk-shop since she happened to be in town.
i dont exactly mind spending a day on my own but ending it having a company or two is always a pleasure. anytime. :)
and it's funny that we always end up buying things when we meet. hrmpf.

dinner tonight was like crap. more meals like this and i shall be looking forward to seeing the tip of the weighing scale shifting to the left. and that's a "yay"!

i'm feeling strangely peaceful. being upset with life's continual dose of minor irritation has faded down to a lazy state of indifference. which is pleasing. anyway, it's always a better way out to leave unresolved matters in the hands of the Higher authority. :)

*yawn*

mum has gone. praise the Lord i managed to drag myself out of bed at the ungodly hour of 7am. man, that was a marvellous achievement dont you think?? considering the fact that i fell asleep at only 3am after much tossing and turning (as always). couldnt quite recall how early morning has always felt like. for the first half an hour i was zombie-ing around staring at the chickens.
(now you must be convinced that i really live in a countryside, are you not?)

packing is more or less done. hmm.. i wonder why i still have so many things to bring.

after all these years, the joy of plane rides have tragically been reduced to the mundane routine of simply getting from point A to point B. not mentioning a handful of time to kill in between.

listening to: i'm gonna be around by Michael learns to Rock.

random thoughts.
today was unbelievably short, just like any other last days i suppose. but then again, daytime has more or less been short nowadays. i guess that's what waking up at 12.30 noon does to you.
my mum is leaving town tomorrow too. so that makes it 2 trips to the airport. mum's going to medan, another town at the other end of the archipelago to visit my grandma, and also to attend her high school reunion. now isnt that cute?? fancy a crowd of 40-yrs-old men and women exchanging photos of their children. :D
but then again, to each their own little pleasures.

mum's flight is 9am in the morning and i wanna send her off. which means i gotta wake up fivehours earlier than usual. which is heartless! i've long given up trying to sleep anytime earlier than 3 am. no matter what i do, my mind, and eyes for that matter, just simply refuse to shut off. therefore, short and insomnic tonight is going to be. and say hello to dark rings and puffy eyes tomorrow morning.
like i said, all things are possible to those who want it badly enough.

my nose is still blocked and i cant stop blowing my nose. now the skin around my nose is hideously red and to put it short and simple, i look like shit.

i realised that guys just cant get enough shirts. just like how girls simply cant get enough of shoes. and nice tops. and bags. and earrings. and more shoes. and more tops. and more bags. you get the idea. :)

orientation starts the day after tomorrow. man, i've forgotten how going to school feels like. which is scary because that makes me sound so overaged. the prospect of meeting so many more new people is exciting, but a maybe a little intimidating to put it frankly. the perplexity i'm feeling is indescribable because that is rather unlike me. i had always liked people.
you know, sometimes i wish i can read my own thought bubbles cos i really fancy getting a crystal picture of what i always friggin' think.
i am a collection of contradicting and complex thoughts all chopped (oops, too much cooking), mixed, wrapped, and nicely rolled into a walking, talking thing whom you now see.

too often, i'm too concerned about what other people think of the things i say or do, and the feeling's not unlike having a baggage strapped to your back that weighs you down time and time again when i could jolly well do with a lighter load. so that will have to go.

life intrigues me. and i'm moving on. i guess, you either move on with me, or here i bid you my farewell. i've never been good with words anyway.

urhh... i guess the potato and prawn sambal dish i had for dinner tonight is going to be the last from my mum. 'til another year or maybe half.
hostel food better be good!

if we hold on together by Diana Ross.
don't lose your way
With each passing day
You've come so far
Don't throw it away
Live believing
Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith, hope & glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by
For you and i

Souls in the wind
Must learn how to bend
Seek out a star
Hold on to the end
Valleys, mountains
There is a fountain
Washes our tears all away

Words are swaying
Somebody is praying
Please let us come home to stay

chorus

When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun
In the dark we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts, everyone.

chorus

found this oldie in my sister's winamp playlist. such a nice song! got a few other personal favourites but will save it for next time. :)
it's been quite a lengthy entry. i dont blame you if you never get to read this line (cos you've probably already clicked the exit button).

yay! coming back for cellgroup and svcs. truly, one can live without bread but one cannot live without the Word of God. :)
